Water Saving Tips
There are many easy ways to save water
Top Tips:
- • Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth. Keeping it running can waste around 6 litres per minute.
- • Have a shower instead of a bath, it uses a third of the water. Be careful though, a power shower can use more water than a bath!
- • Install a water meter which makes you more aware of how much you are using. For more information on water meters, visit www.thameswater.co.uk or contact your local water company.
- • Only fill the kettle with the amount you need.
- • Choose water efficient sanitary ware - look for toilets with a short and a long flush.
- • Only use your washing machine when you have a full load. A full load uses less water than two half loads.
- • Wait for a full load before using your washing machine. A fully loaded dishwasher can use less water than hand-washing dishes in the sink.
- • Fit a flow deduction device like Tapmagic to your taps.
- • Of course, don't forget to buy a water butt to collect rainwater from your roof for use in the garden.
